If

If
One morning the sun were to go black
And life was a shadow
I’d dust out those corners—
Those dark corners in me

If
One morning the birds stopped chirping
And the world was a whisper
I’d open my mouth
And hear what’s been hiding in me

If
One day the grasp of gravity was loosened
And everything fell into place
I’d unclench these dirty hands
To touch what been holding me

And
If
One night the moon were to hide its face
And the night was blacker than my soul
I’d open these sore eyes
To see what I’ve become—me

I won’t wait

If
They all say “if”
“how different we’d all be”
They all say
“if something changed me”

I won’t wait

Something is changing in me
