"If" ...

Proverbs 22:7

The rich rule over the poor,
and the borrower is servant to the lender.

If I say yours ... can it be mine

if I pretend that we are sharing?

If what I have is borrowed time

what have I to give in the comparing?

If what I have ... is yours to start

and never was mine from the beginning.

Than in the game I thought I played

never got through the first inning.

Not even in the stands I was

just in a uniform of my own making.

Appearing in the eyes of the world

the fool ... that I was faking.
