IF

If you were but a flower, I would call you a rose, Sweet scented and colorful But roses wilt and die If you were but a plant You would be the best breed of grass Comfortable, endearing to the sight But grass dries and discolours If you were a season I would call you summer Warm and with a happy spell But seasons come and go With no care at all If you were a heavenly body I would call you the moon Cal and timely yet shining But the moon comes and goes And takes its time getting back If you were but a house I would call you a palace Magnificent and majestic Surely awesome But palaces are fearful to live in. If you were a hat I would call you a Sombrero Wide rimmed and protective But Sombreros are a cumbersome wear. If you were a garment I would call you a suit Pert and respectful Yet the weather embarrasses the wearer If others say all they wish Good or bad be it Cocksure I am That what I truly know is what is. That these and more you are The colour that colours my life The light that shines in my life The food that nourishes my heart The rails on which my life runs You are everything I need and MORE.
