If and When

If you were a dandelion, then you'd be my first wish.

I'd swim in any ocean and across any sea; I can be your fish.

If you were a target, then I would never miss.

You are the perfect size, and have the most perfect face where I can place a kiss.

I'll water you every day; you are my own little rose.

You were once but a little seed and I smiled as I watched you grow.

With each of your tiny fingers I can count, with every little toe.

Your eyes are diamonds to me, complete with your little button nose.

When you are hot in the summer heat, then I will be the hose.

And when you are cold, then I will be your clothes.

When you are down, I will be your up.

And when you are thirsty, darling I will be your cup.

When you feel lost, I will be the luck.

No matter where you are, or what you do.

Remember I am always here and I will never stop loving you.

I am a poet before anything. And after that I'm nothing at all.
