"But if anyone asks, tell them we're fine..."

It was 2013,

I sat there aimlessly staring at the ground

Everyone who passes asks, "Are you okay?" .

"Yeah".

But I am not-

My eyes are dry,

My body shaking,

My heart beating rapidly,

My soul dying.

Two weeks they say,

You'll heal they say,

It's for the better they say.

What's better?

It is still 2013,

I haven't healed, it isn't better.

It is time to leave- forever.

The tears have already sucked the life out of me;

The air has thinned;

My scars hhave opened.

My heart refuses to be joyful,

& my soul refuses to be alive.

I am nothing but a broken army-

Army of independence,

Strength,

Morality,

Security,

Life.

But if anyone asks, tell them we're fine.

We'll see the light of day-

Once more.
