If I am Cinderella
If I am Cinderella I never found my Prince Charming
my fairy Godmother went poof!
and my father was cruel
but my mother was the kind one.
If I am Cinderella
my friends would be books
not mice or Birds.
If I am Cinderella,
I'm too clumsy for glass shoes
and too shy to dance with that really cute guy.
If I am Cinderella
harsh words and cold beatings drag me down
but I rise up
wiping the ashes of inferiority and misery
from my raged clothes and my jagged soul.
If I am Cinderella
my happy ending only comes gradually
not at the wave of a magic wand.
If I am Cinderella,
there's no such thing as a happily ever after
my story doesn't end with an everlasting Sunset;
Mine is a story in the making
One that's not quite over yet.
