If I Called The Shots
If I called the shots we'd never go hungry.
We's never have to worry because our tummies wouldn't be rumbling.
Children wouldn't cry and people wouldn't die,
From the wars like Iraq, that make teens wanna get high.
If I called the shots, I'd have both my mom and dad.
My dada would come home and my mom would be glad.
With dinner on the table and desert in the oven.
While my dad gives me a hug and I tell him how much I love him.
He'd see my mom and actually smile, give her a kiss and want to stay for a while.
If I called the shots me and my brother would be best friends.
We'd never fight and stay together until the end.
My brothers and sisters would all know each other.
Even if they have different parents, even if they're not the same color.
If I called the shotsI'd get to go to college and wrestle.
But I wouldn't have to worry about math and those damn decimals.
Missouri, Oklahoma, Cali, or New York.
Choosing would be harder than eating soup with a fork.
Do I want to sleep in a dorm?Or on a farm in a fort?
And don't forget the people.Yeah, that'll be interesting.
To see what gangsters are like in Sunnyville, Tenessee.
If I called the shots people would walk to their own theme song.
Mine would probably be a new remix of Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" gone wrong.
Or maybe "Not Afraid". Yeah I like Eminem too.
Oh wait....I've got it. It'd be that new song "Brokenhearted".
The one Dominique's always laughing at me for singing to.
And Maria, well Ricky Martin's got her covered. But I'll change the subject now.
I'm pretty sure you guys don't wanna hear about this blubber.
If I called the shots, relationships wouldn't have problems.
I'm not gonna lie.Never been in a serious one but, DAMN!Do those things have drama!
I think the part of the conflict has to do with Twitter, Facebook, and technology now a days.
Too many girls tweet about how they are in love with a guy after just one day.
And guys, don't get me started.
They post pictures of their abs to get their to get other girlfriends mad.
But don't think those girls are saints.
"LMS if you think my boyfriend's an ass!"
Then when he's ready to leave, she's praying he'll give her a pass.
But enough with the crappy relationships. One to the good ones.
If I called the shots all my guy friends would set an example for the playerish hoodlums.
You know, the ones with ten girls hanging on their trail.
If I called the shots, I'd make them better males.
Ones that praise their girlfriends, and she'll do the same.
Stay faithful to each other so that the only thing he'll wanna change about her, is her last name.
But enough with the gooey stuff. On to the next.
If I called the shots, we'd all get goodnight texts.
The ones that are unexpected and make you feel loved when you read em.
Best part about it, you'd hear God's voice when you see em.
You wouldn't know who who it's from tho, I couldn't even tell you myself.
Cause I'd get the same message and just contemplate with myself.
"Who'd care to text me at 11:30 at night?I'm not that interesting and I don't put up much of a fight."
I just hide behind this mask, that I play off as mental toughness.
But really, inside there isn't much roughness.
'Look! There's Gaby! That one girl that wrestles!"
"Don't mess with her. She'll kick your ass with her muscles!!"
If I called the shots, this is something I'd change.
I'd be known for me and not just a sport I play.
Yeah its a part of me, but it's not all I have to offer.
If people would listen, they'd know I'm a lot softer.
But I can't change their minds, can't tell them what to know.
All I can do is stand up here and try to put up a good show.
Get people to understand, you can't judge a book by it's cover.
Mine, wether I like it or not, ultimately includes my mother.
I don't really like to talk about it.
We've all got a story we don't like to tell.
Mine happens to include heartbreak, dugs, and people who like to yell.
But see now I call the shots.
I'm in control of my life.
I can be who I wanna be.
Hell! I'll stay up all night!
So I'll end this poem with just one thing to say.
If your gonna call the shots, make sure you call them YOUR WAY!
