If I Changed My Mind

As I sat there,

watching the slapping,

rolling,

pounding of the waves,

and the ocean stretching upon the shore

I began to wonder what would happen if I'd done something a little differently,

if I changed something from my past

Would I still be here,

facing the ocean,

contemplating life,

and burying my feet in the sand?

Would I be surrounded by the same people?

Would I see the world through a new light?

Would I see myself differently?

Or would I change nothing---

focus myself in the present, in the now,

always wondering,

never knowing,

who, what, or where I would be,

if I changed my mind
