But If I Could

But if I could, say, travel the world Hit the dust with my heels And the wind with my cheeks And face the horizon With that grin on my lips I would be free. But if I could, say, paint you a picture Of my dreams that I dream And the tales that I’ve heard And the stories I have told Nothing but my mind you could see Oh, I would be free. But If I could, say, fly like a bird With the clouds under my wings And the envious grass below And the shimmering stars above Of the moon’s shadows How I would be free. But if I could, say, light up the dark No more shadows descend me And the terrors of the night And the monsters beneath my bed Could no longer haunt me Yes, I would be free. But if I could, say, live my life The way that I want And travel the places I want And dream the dreams I want The terrors I could escape Like the bird, I would be free. But if I could, say, I would The days no longer hindering And the nights no longer cold And the treetops never stop reaching So much happiness I would feel But, I can only dream of how I would be free.
