If I Could

"If I could I would" said the mother to the child, "I'd take you out to play and let you run wild,

but I have to climb higher on my social ladder , I don't have these todays go ask your father."

"If I could would"  the father quickly replied, "but my work is piled up to here can't you see the phone that's glued to my ear?

You're a big girl now go amuse yourself," and as his daughter walked thought I hoped that helped.

So the girl walked out to play in the sun and play she did until the day was done.

Her mother called out for her to come inside and help set the table for dinner that night,

she called once, then shouted twice but the little girl played and turned a deaf ear.

Finally her father came out and said quite sternly "Young lady I'd like to know the why you don't do as you're told and cause your mother to cry!"

And to his astonishment this was her reply " You taught my lesson quite well today to attend to my own needs first, it's not you see that I did not want to help mother set the table today  but  I had to take of my guests at the tea party today, and I felt  it would be rude of me to leave  them suddenly."

So my friend this I leave you with a word of  warning, take care how of  much value you give to the things you do and the people you love. For thing are much easier to be replaced than someone's heart if you misplace it.
