If I could ...

1 John 3:17

17 But whoever has the world’s possessions and sees

his fellow Christian in need and shuts off his compassion against him,

how can the love of God reside in such a person?

If I could …

We grow in things materially

We gather many things

We dearly pay a price for it

and that is not seen clearly

It is that part of self we pay

the part we should  have been

and we leave our children only

a scrounged life style … merely?

The part of self we give them

is what is not liked in us

With words we try to guide them

but it is only a hollow sound

In our last breath we whisper

if I could do it over again

Our real heart died long ago

as our flesh now winds down
