If I could change one thing.
If I could change one thing,
what would I change?
Would I figure out how to make the world at peace,
or end all forms of slavery?
How to make everyone see that all people are equal,
or animals deserve better treatment?
No, these things are all noble causes;
motivations to be proud of.
I, however, am focused on something much more minor.
I would change my perspective.
My outlook.
I would do things,
climb mountains,
build houses,
vaccinate people,
volunteer my time,
learn new languages,
immerse myself in new cultures,
in order to feel more productive.
I would change my view so I could become more confident;
and in that confidence I would find my strength.
‘Strength to do what?’ you may ask.
Strength to work with countries and create peace between them.
Strength to work with the victims of sex slavery and child slavery,
to help pull them out of the spiral they are bound to be spinning into.
Strength to help write the laws that earn all peoples the same rights in all countries,
and the laws that help the animals be in safe environments and feel loved.
This is what I would change, if I could change one thing.
But…
I would not change it in only myself.
If I had the power to do so, I would change the confidence of all people,
so that they would all gain the same strength and lead the world into a better future.
