If I Could Change…
I would change the way you look at me.
If I could change anything you wouldn't judge me by what I wear.
You would judge me by who I am.
If I could change anything the world would be at peace.
We would be holding hands, instead of holding bombs.
If I could change anything there would be no more bodies lying in the street.
If I could change nobody else would cheat, and we would no longer have an urge to defeat.
If I could change we would look at each other with respect,
In our lives we wouldn't all be so wrecked,
If I could change it we would all be the same,
Our race, class, and sexuality wouldn't put us to shame.
If I could change ,you would see that we all have it wrong,
You would see that as a nation; we aren’t standing so strong.
If I could change we might all feel like we’re in the right place.
If I could change we would all be happy,
We could actually talk to each other without getting so snappy.
If I could change we wouldn't be popping pills to fill our voids,
We would be talking to each other instead of getting so annoyed.
Getting screwed up wouldn't be every day,
But in today’s society there is no other way.
We’re all just living like our lives are so grey.
If I could change we would step back and take a look around,
In an instant we would see how the world is not so safe and sound,
If I could change there would be no more lies,
There would be no more selling on the streets just to get by,
If I could change there would be no more hate,
We would see that we all need each other, and that we’d appreciate.
Because we would be able to get by each day without having to medicate.
I could change it; if it wasn't alone,
It takes thousands of us to build each country’s backbone.
Instead of one of us sitting on a thrown while we watch each other struggle,
We should stand together and take action; we would end the trouble.
So let’s change the world and make it what we truly want to see,
Because I can’t do this by myself,
I can’t do this, just me.
