If I had to go

If I had to go without,

There's absolutely no doubt

I'd give up everything I own,

Right down to skin and bone.

But I'd hang on tooth and nail,

To my internal holy grail

 My closest friend and ally,

I could never utter goodbye

To that thing that keeps me sane

That lovely voice that's in my brain

Oh, the thoughts that they would find

If I left my mind behind.

No decision could be made

Thoughts eternally delayed

No opinion and no preference

No memories to seek reference

What kind of life would that be,

To not live... mentally?

A life certainly not for me.

So if I had to go without

There is absolutely no doubt

That the only thing I'd need

Is for my thoughts to proceed.
