If I was…

If I was a king Then this world would be my kingdom, Surrounded by friends and family, People who care about you, Is there any use for gold? I would be the happiest person alive. But heed my warning. People, can deceive. Some just want what you have, Others want a better reputation for themselves, Some… are just there to hurt you. Sometimes, I wonder. What if I was a tree? If I was a tree I wouldn’t be able to move Standing still for years and years That way I wouldn’t be able to hurt anyone, Sheltering the young and the old under my long thick branches, Preventing those harsh sun rays from damaging their soft skin. But then again, people are destructive. They can burn things, break things, rip things apart Criticize, steal, and even fight each other. But only the strong survive. Overtime, people may wear and tear at my branches and trunk, But I’ll remain tall and strong. So maybe a king is supposed to be like a tree. Nurturing Beautiful Everlasting.

I wrote this poem one day when I was thinking about how I fit in with all my friends. As well as the whole world around me. I've always thought that self-awareness was important and you should always be curious about your surroundings. The whole world is a puzzle. How do you fit into it?
