If I were president...

If I were president...

If I were president.

I’d be a horrible president.

Can’t make decisions

Can’t disappoint people

I’d rather be a warrior

Or a soldier

Or a doctor

Or a healer of the broken ones

right before they leave.

I couldn’t be a president

I’m too quick to anger

Too sure that I’m right

Too unsure in my righteousness

to champion a cause.

But I think I could be.

I could learn to be a president

How to carry myself

How to think of myself

How to champion my causes

When to compromise

and when not to

How to moderate

How to radical

How to maverick

How to conform

How to break, head bowed

How to be demonized with grace

How to smile, teeth flashing, and hate my false friends more than all of my opponents

How to hate everybody

How to have hope, in spite of it all.

How to carry on and how to regret it

How to do it, I could learn.
