If Only

If only

If only I knew,

The costs of life

And what one must do,

to survive in this world

to strive, live, breathe

The rain drops slowly,

as the pendulum swings.

My head, filled with numbers,

costs, and money,

"You need to grow up

you're not a kid anymore, honey."

Those words, that sentence,

which my mom so dearly said

Always reminded me that this is not the end.

I'm older now, not a kid

No longer do I wish, because now I did

I learned about life, things that you need to pay

If only I had a choice to make these bills go away.
