If the present was the past

If the present was the past,
So many stones would dodge and stumble
With which in my pride
I could not reach to repair.

If the present was the past,
Would be more useful and less left,
I would listen to the advice of the wise man,
Although he would laugh at the errors he had sought.

If the present was the past,
Principles would be sincerity and patience
But not so much caprice and vanity,
Laws only of adolescence.

If the present was the past,
I would put many I love you on the lips,
That you keep, in an ashamed heart.

If the present was the past,
I would save all my dead,
For selfishness, just to have them
A longer time

If the present was the past,
I would ask the rich to formulate success;
And would give to the humble,
The source of ambition.
To see how many leave
Conviction, by temptation.

If the present was the past,
I would feel the passion of love again;
But this time I would remember living with more excess
And without so many questions.

If the present was the past,
I would lose my sanity again,
To recover it in some bridge,
On the verge of disappearance.

If the present was the past,
I could not be who I am
Rather, it would always be what I was;
Would live on a stretch without progress,
In the midst of disappointment,
So I could be
Not for what I was.

If the present is present,
Is because there was something,
That allowed to arrive
To what I am TODAY ... "
