If Sneakers were alive

 I lay still unless touched.

I come in many sizes, depending upon the size of what I contain.

I come in many shapes and colors.

I travel to distant lands by many means.

My tongue is strangled so I don't lose want is inside me.

I am old  and young, clean and filthy.

I come in many races and genders.

I have many textures; soft, rough, hard, smooth, thin, thick, and sometimes all at once.

I picked up passengers along the way, many are clingy and won't get off, but others are prickly and leave as fast as they came.

My soul is tainted by the things I have done.

A snake runs along my surface ducking in and out of dark caverns.

If I am treated well I can last a life time.
