If There's One Thing I Learned

To Mr. Schlee,

You taught us the basics of Japanese

We learned iambic pentameter using Jay-Z

You encouraged us to visit Greece

You traveled with us a few times to DC

Derm means skin and auk is a bird

“Life is Beautiful,” we know each word

Geocaching is better when there’s a riddle race

Ethnicity doesn’t matter since the whole world is in space

You said looks mean nothing, but conversation matters,

When 50 years from now we sit beside our spouses

Red slushies leave suspicious lipstick stains

It’s not our IQ, it’s how we fill our brains

You said if we remember nothing else from our alma mater

Remember to never, never drink salt water
