If the World Only Knew My Name
If the World Only Knew My Name
If I Only I knew the name of my Sisters
In Romania, In Greece, In Turkey.
In Africa My Brothers Thrive,
My Cousins Live in India
My Mother and Father in Brazil.
My Family Live Around the World
My Fellow Man- the ones I Love
And I don't even know Your Name.
If I Could Choose, I would Know You
Every Single One.
I would know what makes you laugh,
I would know what makes you cry.
I would know how to make the distances between us small
So we may be together.
I want to see new faces
I want to meet those people
The ones who don't know I exist
The ones who don't know whether I am dead or alive.
I want you to know that I am dead or alive
And I want to know about your life.
I want to know about the sweet flowers you smell in the morning
I want to see the sea rippling at our feet
As we stand and stare out into forever
Into the brotherly world of sisters and cousins
Who will smile at us
And whisper our names in the wind.
