If You Could See

I wish I could be real

You don't know how it is

To be on the outside

Of your petty games

I want to be who I am

But I can't

For I know the consequences

Of who I am

I want to show the world the true me

Though I can't

Since I have been down that road

The pain was too much to bear

But then I wonder...

What would you think?

If you say me for me

What if you could see?

If you could see

Then you would know my strength

Comes from weakness

That is me

If you could see

Then you would know my honesty

Comes from ignorance of lies

That is me

If you could see

Then you would know my love

Comes from a burdened heart

That is me

If you could see

Then you would know me

That I come from a past

That is entirely my own

If you could see

Then you would applaud my strength,

Thank me for my honesty,

And appreciate my love

If you could see

Then you would know

And if you knew

Then I could be me
