If You knew What I Know

I wish some people could comprehend

But alas they are a little slow

What it takes for us to mend

For if they knew what I know

A gift or a sign to send

And a hint of wisdom to show

That even among us friends

We should welcome foe

And although the rules we bend

And over the line we go

Never going back to defend

The ones we leave in tow

Through our lives we tend

To shift from high to low

And bad things continue to rend

Us of our charming glow

When people ask our hearts to lend

We usually say no

And then we feel bad because they spend

The rest of their lives in woe

Some people just seem to blend

And follow others flow

Although they did not intend

For they’ve just lost all hope
