If you must know

Some call it a gift but we all know the truth                                                                                I didn’t mean to hurt her or maybe I did
but the outcome wasn’t intended                                                                                           I’m not as evil as I seem,                                                                                                          but the story they told doesn’t convey that imagery

I’m beautiful yet they admire her.                                                                                                She may be wiser but I’m a weaver,                                                                                            I can provide for you in ways that will keep you warm in the winter,                                           Dry you during the mist of a storm and,

bring you joy so you wouldn’t have to look any further.
You’ll never long for love again.                                                                                          Answer me this                                                                                                                     Am I not worthy of your affection?                                                                                             Your attention is my deepest desire,                                                                                          all that I want and more.

Although she’s a teacher at heart,                                                                                       possesses much more wisdom than anyone alive,                                                                Respect the fact that my craft can not be taught.                                                                      I'm original and that’s something worth fighting for.                                                                    At times my pride may get the best of me,                                                                               But once you get to know me, you’ll learn to love me.

So if you must know my name is Arachne.                                                                                   I am your talented mortal weaver,                                                                                               and the one I despise,                                                                                                                the one who has captivated your heart in my demise,                                                              Is the one queen who is known for her beauty and intellect.                                                        The great Athena.
