If You Only Knew

Hey there across the sheets It’s been a while since our bodies felt each other’s heat You deny that I’ve tried when you come, you’re too tired I’m fighting the thought that maybe you’re the liar If you only knew How much I still love you You wouldn’t turn your back on me Still I speak the words I thought maybe you heard But it’s still alone and cold I sleep Hey there sitting at our table To have a drawn out conversation, we’re not able All you say is dinner’s still too cold Your attention I just can’t seem to hold If you only knew How much I still love you You wouldn’t hold your tongue with me Still I speak the words I thought maybe you heard But it’s still alone and cold I eat Hey there on the other end of the empty line You said you’d call me, well it’s far past nine The silence in this house is eating me You’ve probably been called to another late meeting If you only knew How much I still love you You wouldn’t stay at work by choice Still I speak the words I thought maybe you heard But it’s still alone and cold I’ll be I whispered and screamed I tried every day To beg you to love me In a similar way So years after dying I’m finally trying To follow advice given me… If you only knew How much I still love you You would sign the papers please Still I speak the words Maybe now you’ve heard I’m starting to take care of me
