If You Remove the Blindfold

I’ve been told

That sometimes

The blind man is the one who can actually see

Whereas the seeing man is truly blind.

What would the world be like

If everyone could see what their words did,

If everyone could understand the effect of their actions?

Would there be any human trafficking?

Would there be any animal cruelty?

Would bullying still exist if the bully could see and feel the effect

His or her words and action had on the victim?

Would I say some of the things I’ve done?

Would I regret some of my actions?

My gift to the human race

Would simply be the gift of true sight

The gift of perception, the gift of understanding,

That way there might be less broken hearts and crushed souls

Left for others to pity.
