If You Were Mine

If you were mine, I would give you the world,

And all the stars that inhabit the skies.

But all of its beauty into you has unfurled,

And the stars create the shine in your eyes.

I would give you a garden, full of red roses

And of your beauty I would always speak.

Not one flow’r in the garden opposes

The red blossom shown fairly in your cheeks.

There is nothing of beauty on the earth

That can match your radiance as you pass.

There is nothing I can give that’s of worth,

For all aspects of beauty my love already has.

I have one gift to give, and that gift is me.

All I ask for is you, and our love can be.
