Ignite

I’m surrounded by darkness,

No light to harness.

It suffocates me like a cave,

No oxygen for my lungs to save.

I claw, I cry, yearning for light

A radiant aura to satisfy my doomed plight.

Alone in the night, I seize the ground,

Hug my knees, rocking, laying back down.

I’m waiting for the faintest spark –

A flicker, a crackle, sight amid senseless dark.
