Ignition
My car awakens.
The instrument cluster pours light into the cabin;
transitioning from a silent tomb to a caged storm.
The RPM surges, searching for that calm called idle.
Moments pass, and the gear engages;
a new cog caught in the teeth of forward motion.
I awaken.
Consciousness floods my senses;
to the helm of command.
My thoughts rev high, until they settle into steady control.
Moments pass, and I step out the door;
a new day locked into gear.
Steel and flesh, sharing the same ignition:
pistons and pulses, circuits and synapses.
Bound by direction, fueled by intent.
We accelerate to arrive until both engines seize:
alone on the shoulder as the road forgets us.

Personal awakening paralleled with abstract meditation on mortality and purpose.
Multiple layered ideas densely packed; car/consciousness metaphor threads throughout.
Contemplative with existential dread; ends in abandonment and decay despite vitality.
Surging, kinetic language: rev, surge, accelerate; mechanical tension throughout.
Approximately 22 lines; falls within 16-30 range.
Rich metaphor (car as self), personification (awakens), simile (caged storm).
Primarily lyric internal reflection with slight dramatic tension via extended metaphor.
