Ignition In My Head

I think it’s possible that I am schizophrenic

More possible than I am sane

Since sane is an abstract concept

In this era

I shared this thought with my remarkably dynamic mother

Always asking her for help, whether she knows it or not

Never sure I’m getting it, even when she does…

Like this time, when she simply said:

“I’ve wondered that about myself too.”

Is that comforting or catering?

Though I believed her,

She is not me.

So, although I may be schizophrenic,

I don’t think I’ll mention it again…

I’ve got enough problems

And nothing’s really ‘real’ anyways

“Ding Ding Ding”

Someone’s always left their keys

In the ignition

Of the car in my head

At least I can sometimes

Shut its door for a while

And I’m grateful I can

Tell

When the voices are coming

From inside me
