Ignorance

Ignorance is bliss

we say.

then so must be

famines and fires and floods.

suffering is our happiness-

our solace in the world.

we remain oblivious, naive,

we keep to ourselves

fearing a rift in the world.

but this childish concept

is sin disguised innocence.

Ignorance is ruination-

a great danger

to life as we know it.

eyes should not be blind

ears should not be deaf

Ignorance is this:

harmful delusion

that must be stamped out,

every letter of new knowledge

racing us to wisdom.
