Ignorance

Dear Ignorance,

When sorrow and pain are my shadows

my energy and ambition are in the shallows.

Having you in my heart helps me get through the day

I use you to push my fears away.

As to-do lists and calendars are filled with burdens

purpose and meaning are hard to determine.

The not-knowing and obscurity bring me peace

the pressure and emotions finally cease.

When I can't face my problems I call on you

and my reliance sees me through.

When it's hard to breathe and hard to sleep

you prevent me from taking that final leap.

When the walls surround me and I can't escape

my anxiety and stress you do abate.

Thank you for being my constant companion

my fears and worries I now abandon.

Love,

Holly
