Ignorance

Do we know what this day will bring?

When sorrow laughs and revelation sings

Words flit from thought to thought

Seeking what should not be sought

And when accustoms grow from old to new

The trees share their secrets with very few

And routine becomes a habit we slip into

Change, something we begin to rue

To avoid the abyss of questions that lead

To anywhere that brings us to cruel knowledge's seed

Tucked into the bacm of your mind

Afraid to lose what makes others blind

For when you know

your mind won't slow

As sweet sorrows song

Shows where you really belong

And pities you

As others do

Because now innocense is lost

Ignorance carries a much higher cost

Now that revelation has a name

And carries a coating as thick as shame

When darkness breaks to show a sliver of light

The blood you give is not the only cost of this fight

And the strength you thought you had

Slip's through ignorance's broken protective pad

You realize what you've always hid from:

It's not so simple to follow the beat of the drum
