Ignorant Blister

How rough is the sea you’re traversing?

How tightly is the hand held,

That tiny hand that’s seen such

Dire calamity; such hurting?

To live with constant threat

Splintering your every word

And family moment with

bombs, of fear; regret.

While I eclipse your sorrows

Here with love and joy and

Plans and thoughts of

What’s to come; tomorrows.

Your pain pains me

As I see you begging for flour, salt

To craft a meal from nothing

As I waste our food; repeatedly.

I wish you’d go away

Leave me with my luck

In ignorant selfish stupid bliss

To live without the shame.
