I'll Be Thinking Of You

I miss the taste of your lips on these freezing cold days; I miss your breath on my neck and your longing gaze; And I miss your warm embrace that I can’t explain. Maybe if I hadn’t been so hesitant, So slow to jump in, You would still be here. But I took my time, And you did not have time to give. You wanted me then, Like I want you now. It’s like we’re playing a game That neither of us will ever win. These nights without you couldn’t be lonelier, The mornings that follow them are even worse. I used to fall asleep with my head on your chest, Only to wake up to you tickling me to death. Now all I have is my blanket, And an empty half of a bed. My heart was fragile, Yours was untouchable. I only wish you would have let me in. I thought it was mind over matter. But really, to you, It was only my body that mattered. These memories I hold so dear, That I have created with you over these past few years, I hope you will remember, When it’s all over And think back to October.
