I'll Make A Change
I was told that being an African American Woman
would hold me back.
And that being black was not good enough
for black suits and shiny, patent shoes.
I was told that my dream job was not tangible because of
the pigment in my skin.
But I am not a color.
I am a person with a dollar and a dream,
Some family supports and moderate self-esteem.
And my dream job would change everything.
Because I worked two jobs through high school,
I did not have time to smoke weed and be cool,
Cause all I had was a dollar and a dream.
I knew that my dream job would change everything.
Cause I want at least nine zeros on my paycheck,
I do not want to bust my ass or break my neck
at my nine to five.
But you see, my dream job would change everything,
Because my dream job is to work for me.
My dream job is to give back to my community.
My dream job is to spread the opportunity.
I swear my dream job would change everything.
