I'll Obey
You shoved your opinions down my throat
and demanded I think the same
and when I decided to speak out
you grabbed me by the hair
and demanded I never speak out of turn again.
Then you pulled me close to you
as if to comfort me through the night
but I couldn't feel heaven in your touch.
I couldn't feel safety or assurance
in those rough arms of yours.
You stroked the hair you devastated minutes ago
and told me you were only
protecting my heart and soul,
that it was for the best
that I listen to your defiled words.
You kissed my cheek
with those tainted lips of yours
and my body tensed
with fright.
I froze still,
afraid to shake underneath those
unpleasant hands I called home.
You told me again
to follow what you say
for your wisdom was superior than mines,
for I could never be anything but less than you,
for you loved me enough to care for me
and that nobody else would do the same
if not for you.
Perhaps you were right.
