I'll See You Again
Dear Uncle Rob,
I am sorry. I should not have pushed the time away
For the longest time, I felt that you were going to just be okay.
My worry faded from my mind as years past
I didn’t realize the time was passing fast.
I came home from a trip ready to get back to life,
But my dad pulled me aside and said news that cut me like a knife.
You were gone.
I felt numb, I was not able to see you the last time I visited,
Because you were asleep and to let you rest is what my dad insisted.
We left you your present for that we would watch with you for your birthday,
Furious 7, part of your favorite movie series but, before we could you passed away.
I pushed off when we would go back, I kept saying I was too busy to go then,
I felt terrible that I did, I did not get to say goodbye, and I will not get the chance again.
The day before I came home you went to the hospital, and we planned to see you the next morning but it was too late,
Time could not wait.
I’m sorry I never said goodbye, I’m sorry sometimes I feel like you never left,
I just forget.
It hurts my heart when I think you’re really gone, but I know in my heart heaven is where you roam,
And you are finally home.
I’ll always carry the thought that you never gave up on the fight despite the pain,
Even though you did not get to see the movie, with me and will not get the reference, I know even when I forget, I do know that I’ll see you again.
Love you,
Carito
