Illuminating Hope
Time after time I asked myself
“why”, “why” was I born” why” do I
exist why and how did I make it
through so much turmoil and pain
"why” “why” was I the only one to
make it out the streets without a
scratch in fact many situations many
of times not even having the time to
close my eyes to pray & still
maintained to get away from being
killed or raped “why” what’s the
meaning Is it that my life serves
purpose is it true I’m destined for
something more than my condition is
true that my life is predestined so
hard to see the change I know so I
held on to my faith in hopes of a
great future and brighter days ahead
not letting the challenges get in the
way or consume my head I’m a
single mother my baby no father
papa was a rolling stone mama
came from brokenness & scattered
pieces as The Most High Creator gathers the
broken pieces making a way for
me through childhood wounds &
& residue as a rebelling teen who
had to learn the hard way
coercion into prostitution even
homelessness from the beginning
never forgetting my source and ways
of living made it out a past not worth
living many of times wanting to curl
up and die agony when it came to
opening my eyes CREATOR change what I
see in front of me through dreams
speak to me help me discover the
greater side of me connecting with
the powers you have seeded within
me water me with your energy be my
fuel of integrity to stand before many
speak a truth of my history how you
have blessed me made me aware
the recurrences of THE MOST HIGH love unfailing
sustaining the reason why I've
maintained n’ placing my best foot
forward with each step He does the
rest in Th CREATOR I trust the source to my
resources connecting me to the
people and places which have
opened doors for me by far a
coincidence my life like puzzle finally
coming together I want to be more
than just a Mentor I want to be an
Innovator a trailblazer believing in
something so much greater all one
goes through serves purpose
shaping my life holding on to every
moment tragic and victorious that
is the story to reach the ears of
those who need to hear in order to
bring forth change and recognition
for what is needed I want to be a
voice that echoes through every
state, country and borough “why” because
I hand in hand know how words can
infect your life like a poison take over
your minds left stripped down,
abandoned and broken
I believe in the power of words and
how they can be utilized to build up,
break down, encourage or
discourage.
I have chosen to utilize my voice & gift in writing to inspire
transformation and illuminate hope
through my experiences to open the
minds of our youth spark something
major unimaginable to their young
colorful minds I am planting a seed
of a certain kind a seed called hope
which in return grows into faith this
is my way of nourishing the souls
and spirits of others awake a side to
them they have yet to discover
tampering into a thought never
contemplated upon perhaps by the
sound of my voice as they
intently listen stirring in their soul as
a light switch being turned on I hope to
shine a light in a space which was once
darkened but now awakened by a desire of prayer what
has worked for me my soul rejoices
my existence the core root to my
essence constant communication
with a source invisible to my sight
but visible through miracles and
healing in my tragedies this is why I
believe prayer changes the
atmosphere the choice has to be
made to find other ways my choice
is to continue to utilize my gifts my
voice and gain ways to acquaint
generations enlighten populations
this is “why” I can now answer the
question as to “why” I was born I
was born to break barriers & be a
bridge of encouragement from my
mothers womb chosen born with
purpose the best part of it whats
going on around me is only a
glimpse Never stop hoping never
stop Believing let your Faith be
Endless I Am a Survivor of
Exploitation
