Illusion

Every day is the same:

wake up,

get dressed,

leave the house,

force a smile,

and pretend to be happy for 7 hours

until you get back home

where you can cry and sleep all day,

until it repeats the next morning.

To your friends,

you're a complete ray of sunshine.

To the public,

you're a happy shade of pink.

But to you,

you're blue.

The color of the sky

when it's nearly grey

and dark rain clouds cover the sun

while raindrops fall like your tears.

You always seem to be getting better,

getting happier,

but it's the exact opposite;

day by day,

you slowly become

more and more

blue,

and, eventually,

you will be so dark

you'll be black

and you'll fade out to

nothing.
