The Illusionist

You're not mediocre and I can definitely see that U weren't content with just pulling a rabbit out your hat You had to take my heart and use it for your ultimate trick Getting a girl to fall in love without the stress to commit You worked away like the puppet master pulling your strings of deceit You wove me a dress of lies, just making sure it would fit But yet you didn't stop there because the trick had to be perfect So you programmed yourself to tell me what I wanted to hear so I would stay hidden behind your curtain In reality u had a serpent's tongue spitting the venom of desire But disguised it as a love bird's sweet song to put me in your trance To me you added your finishing touches A leash of obedience you said to be a charm Along with a purse of brainless, dim-witted remarks like "whatever you want" and "anything for you" that hung about my arm You polished my black holes for shoes that were as empty as you made me feel Ready for your grand finale to show to all your friends How you mad an unyielding girl somehow bend The lights get dim and the curtains go up, the Illusionist ready to claim his fame He tells me to perform....I don't respond because unlike Dorothy's scarecrow I still have a brain
