Illusions

Life is short, they said.

Laugh uncontrollably, they said.

Break the rules, they said.

Forgive quickly, they said.

Kiss quickly, they said.

Love truly, they said.

But how can you laugh uncontrollably,

if not everything in life is funny?

How can you laugh uncontrollably,

if everyone teases you and says you’re

ugly?

How can you laugh uncontrollably,

if everyone says you’re chubby?

How can you laugh uncontrollably,

if you were raised roughly?

How can you laugh uncontrollably,

if your life is fuzzy?

Why would you break the rules,

if you have enough jewels?

Why would you break the rules,

if you’re not a fool?

Why would you break the rules,

if rules are taught in schools?

How could you forgive someone so

quickly,

if he killed someone you love so dearly?

How could you forgive someone so

quickly,

if he killed them in front of you slowly?

How could you forgive someone so

quickly,

if he did it so darkly?

How could you forgive someone so

quickly,

if he did it without feeling guilty?

How could you forgive someone so

quickly,

if he did it without saying sorry?

Why would you kiss slowly,

when you can do it swiftly?

Why would you kiss slowly,

if you don’t even feel homey?

Why would you kiss slowly,

if it makes you feel lowly?

Why would you kiss slowly,

if you don’t feel so boldly?

Why would you kiss slowly,

when you can just hug them closely?

Why would you love truly,

if you know he won’t do it sincerely?

Why would you love truly,

if he says everything untruly?

Why would you love truly,

if he isn’t making you happy?

Why would you love truly,

if the whole world is your bully?

Why would you love truly,

if they all do things cruelly?

Why would you love truly,

it’s not a duty.

Most people think quotes

can create anecdotes,

but no, not all quotes

can make a person’s life float;

But life isn’t short,

it’s just like a sport.

We think it happens so fast

but no, time can just blast;

faster than a child jumping in delight,

faster than a nervous erudite,

faster than a hungry parasite,

faster than a mighty knight,

faster than the speed of light.
