The Illusions of the Smile

Smile child, maybe once in awhile

But I sit and think, why should I smile?

Should I smile because I’m proud?

But proud of what though?

Should I smile to be polite?

Pretty sure they didn’t smile first

Smile to seem happy, but what if I’m not happy

Do I hide everything in that smile?

Why to make someone else feel ok?

What about me?

Who will smile for me and how will I know if it’s real or fake?

It’s just a smile why complicate the matter?

Maybe if I smile I will become less sadder?

So smile child is what I will do for right now

Fight against my feelings and comply to what everyone says.

Maybe if I truly believe in the smile one day

It will make the pain go away
