I'm Afraid I'm Stuck

I feel slow, 1000 miles behind my generation, hopelessly lost in the dust cloud of naiveness. Am I so unaware of the world that I am viewed as a hopeless case, only full of stupidity? It is overwhelming; so much to learn, so little time, so many things that I don’t know but should. Ignorance is not my friend, but I feel it’s presence closing in on me. Or is it already here, lingering on my skin like the odor of cheap perfume? If so, let me be. I cannot be bothered or awakened from my slumber. Allow me to be blinded, But do not remind me of the beautiful sights I now refuse to see.

I started poetry when I was 14 and have since used it as creative outlet and a great way to broadcast my love for writing.
