I'm Fine

I’m a white girl In a middle class family I have a car that runs And I’m never hungry Somehow though All of this means that I’m not allowed to hurt I am not entitled Because other people Are hurt because of Race, creed, poverty And a thousand other reasons I am not entitled to the pain- Of being ignored by peers, Of a family who doesn’t care Or even notice, Of the stress and pressure Of a dysfunctional schooling system “Get over it” “Other people have it worse” “You have no reason to be sad” “Stop moping, you’re fine” But what if I’m not fine
