I'm Fine

It starts small,

Lunchtimes spent alone.

Then it grows,

Grows exponentially.

Everything goes cold.

Faces go pale.

Eyes go blank.

Just sit and watch,

Watch everything move on.

Watch the smiling and laughing,

All of it without me.

But that’s okay.

It’s always okay, it has to be.

They’re all better off without me.

Choke back the tears.

Blast music, any music.

Music fights away feelings.

Start living in a new way.

Put on a mask,

Everyone’s given up anyway.

Why should I care?

No one needs to care.

I’ll just fade away.

No one needs to worry.

I don’t deserve it.
