I'm Free
Hello Darkness, my old friend
It's been quite a while since I've seen you.
I dwelled in your shadows for far too long.
I allowed you to cradle me in warm arms,
So quickly fading,
To deplete me of my grief and sorrow
And it only fueled you...
It fueled you
To unspeakable actions.
To actions I cannot comprehend.
To a stain on my memories,
To flashes of pain,
To innocence.
You emptied my soul and left only a shell.
I was no longer a person,
But rather a monster
Of your own creation.
I was weak
As were you.
And yet I have come to tell you of Light.
It is still warm,
But much better than before.
I bask in truth,
In hope.
Light is so soothing.
And yet I somehow long for you.
I am not who I once was.
I do not long for your fleeting touch.
I will not fall again,
I am strong now.
I only wish to see your face.
To allow you a glimpse of my pain.
I want you to see what Light has.
My tears,
My suffering,
My effort, most importantly.
I have come far and I will continue on this path.
To a path of success..
To a life worth living again.
I suppose, in some way, I do care.
However, it is not love
Or affection
It is only a matter of how you see me.
Your actions encaged me for so long,
Holding me to you tightly, engulfing me in your shadows.
I just want you to know I'm free now.
Sincerely,
Jessica De La Fuente
