I'm Free
"Because I Love You" you told me
When I asked why I should stay
This little white lie controls me
I feel like running away
Away to a beautiful city
Far from things to do
Away from all of the pity
Most of all, away from you
This feeling should not be so common
When will this pain ever end?
I don't want to involve the lawman
Both body and heart on the mend
"Why would you stay?" they asked me
When listing the pros and cons
I live in fear of his glory
As though I've settled for bronze
The lie elicits fear and tears
Knowing I'll believe him again
I've fallen for this for many years
I can't let him fool me again
I've finally found the truth
After many years bruised and confused
These scars will remain from my youth
However, I refuse to be used
I've finally learned my lesson
I've finally gotten away
I've finally escaped your aggression
You've finally stopped begging me to stay
I know this will be hard for us
It shakes me to my core
There is one thing we need to discuss
"Because I Love You" can be no more
