"I'm Gonna Make A Change"
What would I change?
If I had the power,
I would change the number of the people on the streets,
Feed the hungry,
Warm the cold,
Give money to the poor.
But the main thing I would change?
How we impact the education of our future generations.
So many people telling kids they won’t make it,
Keeping them from following their dreams.
Colleges taking money out of their pocket that they don’t have,
Leaving them wondering if its worth it,
And how they're going to pay it back in the end.
Homework's too hard because they don’t understand,
And no one's there to be their guiding hand.
So, I AM going to make a change.
I'll be that guiding hand.
I'll be a teacher.
Be the one who comforts that child with parents who beat her.
Making sure my students are well fed,
And teaching them to never let anyone get into their heads.
I'd teach them to live for them,
And not for someone else, instead.
I'd teach them to reach for their dreams,
Because though life is as hard as it seems,
They are our future.
And they deserve to find out what that truly means.
