I'm Not a Lesbian.
To start things off, to be very clear,
I'm not, nor have I ever been, queer.
I'm a friendly girl at school
Who does not mean to fool.
I have a short red pixie cut
This can be misleading, but
Stereotypes are just that.
And, as a matter of fact,
If I do not date
It does not mean that I hate
The idea of a boyfriend.
I simply need to focus on the end.
High school is coming to a close,
And I hate to impose,
But I feel as though
I should let you know
That you should not define
Someone based on their time
Spent chasing after boys.
I don't wish to be Helen of Troy.
For love I will search
At college or at church.
But for now, I will wait
Until I find the perfect mate.
We should learn to love others
As our sisters and brothers
Rather than spreading lies
Or creating a disguise.
The moral of all this
Is to add emphasis
On how you should not
Judge based on what you thought.
Once again,
I am not a lesbian.
